Got a question. I'm putting my 76 2wd F350 back together and have a head scratcher when it comes to my brake lines. I labeled all the ends when I took it apart and thought everything went back to the correct spots. The rear output of the master cylinder goes to the proportioning valve. The front line of the mc also goes there. The two front lines and the rear line then come off the proportioning valve and go to their spots. But my question is the front output of the mc has a fitting in it so that a line would go into the top, along with the line that goes out to the proportioning valve. What is supposed to go there? Now I'm second guessing whether or not everything is hooked up correctly, but like I said everything was labeled. Any help is greatly appreciated because if I dont get the brakes bled and get this thing moving soon I'm going to have a complete meltdown!
Sounds like you might have had the old style trailer brakes installed at one time.
They used to tap the brake controler into the brakes hydraulic system to activate the trailer brakes.
If the fitting you're talking about is a "T" fitting and you no longer have the trailer brakes, I'd remove the fitting and hook the line up like it was from the factory.
BINGO!!! Hey thanks man, now that you say that I remember the old brake controler being in there when I got the truck and the line going to it. That's why I love this web site........you can ask anything and someone is guaranteed to have an answer! Thanks again!
