Ok I found the fuel leak on my 97, and I need help determining what is leaking, and how much it'll cost to fix. If I do it my self, how hard will this be to replace?
Lift that cover plate up and off the Fuel Pump and lines.. No worris, its just a snap on.. Take a peak again once you do, I think you will find the leak a heck of a lot easier!
BTW Th vid.. thats creative and helps out a lot more! Good job!
I've had two things that caused fuel to trickle or drain down the motor valley under the fuel filter area. One was simple, about 8 months after chaing the fuel filter, it wiggled loose, (turned) as was leaking outa the top, found that one quickley. SECOND Problem: There is some sort of plastic type fuel bowl under that filter area, mine leaked, had a shop fix it. Don't remember the cost or what its called. But its a fairly costly job.
the picture shows your fuel pump. It could be the pump itself as it has a weep hole that will drip when pump is on its way out. It could also be the banjo bolt which attaches the two metal fuel lines on the back of the pump. There are two brass washers also involved on the banjo bolt. If you are sure it is coming from either the pump or the banjo: pump is $90 off amazon and the washers are $5 at the dealership.
heres a pic of the thing that is leaking. what is it? How much does it cost?
Certanly the pic shows the fuel pump, BUT how do you know where exactly is leaking from, at the rear : Banjo Bolt? for the weep hole?, for the blue lines?, how do you know, can you see it directly or with a mirror?. because other things can leak to the valley in that part too.

Good point ROENTGEEP!
Absolutely! That's the challenge. You have to dry up the valley, get the little mirror out, crank it up and wait for the wetness. Even then it can be very difficult. It could be the little blue lines, the fuel canister may have holes eaten through it, leaking fuel line on the head, orings, fpr. I have been living this for a couple of months now. Changed my fuel pump and hoses and now the valley is dry.
also, if you plan to do it all and be done with the possibilities then this is the best kit and price I have come across. I did it in bits and pieces and it cost almost twice as much.

Yes sir, I changed my fuel pump reading that its one of the principal part that can leak (and maybe it is) but NOT THE ONLY ONE, and the leak continued, it ended that the bottom of my canister was rotted on, I fix that with JB weld inside and outside and the leak was gone!, so thats the importance to locate exactly the origin of the leak.
The red arrows are areas in this pic that can leak. There are other areas that can leak that are not in this picture. Which arrow is the place where yours is currently leaking?? I forgot to point to the 2 washers on the banjo bolt. There is one on each side of that spacer w/ the fuel lines coming off of it going to the back of the engine.
Ok, clean the fuel out of the valley and get you a flash light and a little mirror that you can stick down there while it's running to see where the fuel is coming from. It's either the fuel pump or the washers between the pump the banjo bolt
If it's coming from the weep hole, you need to replace the fuel pump. If it's the washers you can get those by themselves, but if your going to change the washers on the banjo bolt I'd go ahead and put in a new fuel pump to prevent a future leak. That is if you want to and have the extra $100 to spare.
