does the suspension bottoming out sound like sway bar links that are bad? i think its time for me to upgrade all 4 leafs as the rear ones are like 1/4 - 1/2" away from the bump stop touching down. and where do you all get your springs when upgrading? anyone ever deal with general spring out of kansas? it seems i can get all 4 leafs with b code rears and x code fronts for 600 bux. sound reasonable? thanks for any input.....
the front bump stops were destroyed! i replaced them with the newer style squarish ones. the feeling isnt really harsh it just sounds like the sway bar link on the driver side is bad but its brand new and torqued down. on the drivers side only though. i already put new shocks on her as well so i guess im chasing the last little pesky noise. what about track bars or tie rod ends? do those clunk going bad?

I would get a clunking sound going over broken pavement with my saggy springs in the front. Had a spring shop add a leaf and now that clunk is gone and ride is MUCH smoother over said choppy road. Got me just over 2" of lift at the same time too.
You might also want to look at the sway bar bushings - the big rubber ones where the bar attaches to the front axle. If they're bad, replace with Energy Suspension urethane.
probably should have metioned already did the energy frame bushings. has anyone bought their springs from general spring? or where do you normally get them?

I just went to my local spring shop and they did them. Actually swapped out some stump work for added leafs, front and rear. Can't beat free!
I added an additional leaf to the front and just came back from a 3000+ mile trip with 7 passengers. It felt too hard at first but after a couple of hours the feeling went away. It made a HUGE difference going over bumps. Even large ones were handled smoothly. I highly recommend just adding an additional leaf for the front. As is apparently common the bump stops were destroyed. This appears to be a dealer only item.
The rear rides just fine on the originals but when loaded the rear sags significantly. But even with 7 people and luggage it never bottomed out. My fear is that the rear will sit too high with an additional spring. I am leaning towards RAS for the rear.
I wonder how long an add-a-leaf will honestly last? When you allready have weak "under rated" stock springs that are failing, now you put the load that the stockers couldn't manage onto one leaf. I think it would be better to replace as not to have to redo the job later. Especially when you can get used ones quite reasonable. Just a thought.. My used V codes raisied my X up 2 inches and cost 130 bucks, rides like a dream now with RS9000s.
