What does that sensor do then?? Is it just to activate the ebpv?
Yep! That's all it does. The sensor detects the throttle position by reading the exhaust pressure in the manifold, then the PCM uses that info along with info from the EOT sensor (engine oil temp) and IAT sensor (intake air temperature) to determine when to open and close the back pressure valve.
Thank you. That's what i wanted to know. Do i just leave the plug sitting there or do i jump it or what?
Don't jump it, either just leave it hanging or clip the wires at different lengths and wrap them separate and tuck them back into the harness. Have you unplugged the wire EBPV regulator?
There are two wires that go from the actuator on the EBPV. they go under the turbo, thru the valley and into the harness that goes to the drivers side injectors. Near the head is a two wire weatherpak connector, once you unplug it the EBPV will default to the open position.
There are some pics floating around on the web but I'll have to look and see if I can find them again.
I don't get a code for the missing sensor but I do get one for having the actuator unplugged (P0475) It's just a soft code though and doesn't set the CEL.
No not really, in the manifold would be better. piston temps are what you need to worry about so the closer you can get to the head the better you'd be.
I had one mounted in the top of the EBPV valve but I also had one in the drivers side manifold and a dual gauge to go along with them.
