I started looking for some pictures of the difference between a custom installation floor mounted (it attaches on the end to where the old master cylinder bolted on to the cross member) and a universal floor mount (cheaper) (that has the mounting bracket on the side parallel with the frame side rail)……………………..and just confused myself.
I have the universal one, (not installed as yet, soon) and in most cases the cross member has been cut in the centre for trans clearance and with a custom floor mount you have to leave part of the cross member in to mount the master cylinder / booster / petal to. With a universal one (a lot more fabricating) I think I can remove the cross member completely and box the frame some, but it will help big time for exhaust clearance.
I gotta admit, I'm a bit perplexed, as well, with all the options available for under floor booster kits for the F1. It seems like they want you to buy their pedal assembly to go with it, which I don't want to do. I like my stock pedals, especially since I want to use the stock clutch and transmission. I just want to upgrade the brakes on my truck since I have to buy a new m/c and plumbing anyway. I'm not understanding why I need to change all that, or spend all that extra money. I, like the rest of the group here, would like to hear some ideas.
I have cut my cross memeber completely out. I am going to us a different one. I am going to us the old style pedal. I see a couple that I like TCI and one on E-bay. Just looking to see who has used what.
