Hello everyone, maybe some one can shed some light on my problem before I take it to the shop.
I have a 2001 Ford F350 4x4 dualley with the 7.3 Powerstroke, am unsure what model the transmission is. Went on a 5 day trip pulling my 26 foot pull toyhauler, I always use the overdrive lockout when pulling. Got home and was putting my toyhauler back in its resting spot by my house. I was in reverse stoped the truck and placed it into drive, it did not move so I gave it a lilltle gas thinking I was in a hole, it clunked into drive and moved forward, repositioned my trailer and I placed it back into reverse to move the toyhauler back into position. Went to place the truck back into drive and nothing, it acted like it was in neutral. Placed truck into low and 2nd with the same affect. Placed truck into 4 low and 4 high still with the same affect. Check the fluid and the level was correct, was bright red and did not smell burned. I checked the truck when it was cold and still the same affect. I thought there might be a module or cylinoid I could check, if not what gives? Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thank you in advance.
May have "adjusted" your shifter cable linkage at the transmission, what happens if you try to stick it in 2nd lets say, that may act as though it were in "D", just a start
That might be a good idea to try and readjust my linkage, put reverse and park still works. I was thinking that there is some type of module that the linkage connects to, I was wondering if that could be bad?
The cable could have been knocked out of adjustment toward the long side which is P side, and you dont have enough through to get into D, like I said just a first thought and an easy check. If you have a "helper" you could disconnect the cable and try to shift it "manually" with the lever.
did all you have to do was tighten it back up? Is that bolt acessible through the pan?
You have to drop the valve bodies and separator plate to access the bolts. There are check ***** above plate that will fall from the case when the plate is removed. If you decide to do this, I can provide you with a pics of their proper locations and torque specs.

I would replace the bolt with a new one. It comes with a sealant on the threads. They aren't very expensive anyways. Tightening may be only a temporary fix, if you don't correct the problem as to why it loosened up in the first place. Here is some pics and text into the reason my bolts loosened. http://s571.photobucket.com/albums/s...nd%20Upgrades/ The bolts, that loosen, screw into the center support housing.
