Unhappy steering box rebuilder

Hello out there in ford land. My name is David (money pit 69). HELP! I have a 69 F-250 with the Bendix steering box. NO PARTS AVAILBLE SO I HEAR. So the next options are to find a good used one, but no luck there. So having mine rebuilt is the final option. Red top here in Seattle quotes 456.00 to rebuild mine. That is a fair price I assume do to there reputation. Does anyone out there have any cheaper suggestions. Money is tight right now. Let me know thanks David

Did you check RockAuto? They list several steering gear assemblies for the 69 F-250.

Cheaper and better to convert to the Ford system. The Bendix system was designed to keep roads black, with the side effect of some slight assistance to the steering.

Smile THX ALL FOR YOUR RESPONCES

I searched for the parts and a replacement unit but in the end I decided the best route was to take my unit to RED HEAD and have them rebuild it. They do such a great job. THey can rebuild the Bendix unit. THX David
