SCT X3 or SCT live wire WTB and ?'s
So Im looking into a tuner. I have a 2005 6.0 with ARP studs and 4" exhaust from the turbo down. 80,000 miles on the truck. I feel I have a good rebuild has I've pulled a 5 mile grade of 5-10% and drove it like I stole it with the below load. Everything has held together for 25000 miles since the rebuild (heads, gaskets, cooler etc.)
Which would you guys suggest, and which sponsor on here do you think has the best tunes. I'm really interested in an agressive towing tune, and will be towing 8000 - 12000 pounds.
Also if anyone has one to sell I'm interested, and going to purchase one this week. Since I can't even post in the wanted to buy because I don't have 25 posts, that's kinda silly.
Also can a guy just buy a generic Ford SCT X3, and then just purchase tunes for it, or are these things for specific vehicles?
Thanks for the help in advance, now if I can just find a tuner and install this week I'd be a happy ford camper, and since I can't afford a 2011 and won't purchase one until proven, this is my stretch to make it another couple years knowing I have more power!!
Thanks,
Chris

The X3 type of platform is tried and true and what I would get. However, as Young Gun said, get some gauges first if you don't already have them. If you want the OBD-II monitor style like the LiveWire, I would look at the Insight or equilivant depending on budget and/or needs.

I have the Insight CST and am enjoying it. They are updating it as they go beings its only a couple of months old. I bought the starter kit also with it as you will be able to add on things (probes and so). That kit comes with the EGT probe and room to add on. They are working on a turbo timer and such to add on. I just bought the SCT x3 and am very happy with it so far also. It seems to be the tuner of choice here and you can buy tunes from whoever you like to put on it. I got mine from Eric at innovative but I have heard good things about Matts tunes at Gearhead also. To each his own. A little trial and error I think. You will find everyone here is a wealth of information. I have learned so much about my truck and dos and donts. Good luck.
