Hypertech speedo calibrator used w/ SCT xcal2?
So I just picked up Hypertech's speedo calibrator. No where on their website, or the website I bought it from does it warn that it won't work if you're using another tuner (I run custom tunes with an xcal2). When I tried to run the Hypertech it gave me the finger and referred me to customer service. They claimed that it wouldn't work if I was running a tune. So I asked about returning the truck to stock, using the calibrator and loading my tune again. They said the SCT would either override the calibrator, or lock up the truck's computer. I asked how it would override the speedo calibration if the tunes from SCT and the xcal2 aren't setup to mess with that, and they really couldn't give me an answer. Their best answer was buy one of their tuners to program my truck and calibrate the tires, or re-gear the truck.
So, I called SCT. SCT says in theory, I should be able to put the truck to stock, use the Hypertech, and reload my tune because their programmer doesn't touch the "module" for speedo calibration. But, they also said given that fact, I shouldn't need to return the truck to stock to use it in the first place. They warned me that if the truck's computer did lock up, then Ford has to unlock it (??$$), and my tuner would likely have to be unlocked by them at a cost of $75. Seeing as how I already paid almost $200 for the Hypertech, I'm not interested in having it cost me money. Not to mention the potential for all this hassle right before the holidays. I bought the tuner from Innovative, and they seem to be gone for the day.
So, I have 2 questions. First of all, can anyone tell me if this will work or not? Has anyone else tried this combo with success?
Second, if I can't use this combo, what can I do? Neither Hypertech nor SCT could recommend a sure fire fix for this calibration issue.
Hypertech has a 30 day money back guarantee, so I'm not the upset if I have to return it. I just want to fix this issue. The TirePaq isn't made anymore.
