Probly a stupid question but how do you do a burn out with a standard tranny???
Iv driven a standard all my life but never atempted a burn out. have smoked the tires in my FWD car several times before I totaled it, but they were short wide tires and the engine was fully a worked N/A VR6

Rev the engine and drop the clutch, usually in 2nd gear.
A standing burnout is the tricky one, as you have to hold the brake, clutch and gas at the same time and drop the clutch.
Or install line-locks on the front brakes and take that mess out of the equation and then it is similar to power-braking an automatic (like my youtube video) and dropping the clutch on a rolling burnout.
I need line-locks now that I switched to a manual, I am pretty bummed about the lack of standing burnout opportunities I am missing.

Yah I dont have three feet, might have a third leg... But I dont think he can quite rech the petals!!!
Iv launched the truck a couple times in second gear, but dont dare to at high RPM's after all its all basically stock from 74
it's way easier to do a standing burnout in first gear...I do it at the track all the time...and I just leave it in first. Depends on tire and gearing...with an np435 trans, i agree that starting in second may be the best, unless you're like me with 33's and 150 hp...tires aren't gonna spin in second....
but what I do is just hammer the throttle in first gear and the burnout begins....from there just quickly put your foot lightly on the brake and regulate that way. If your motor makes enough power, when you drop the hammer and let the clutch out, you'll be spinning so much, you're not gonna just take off anyhow, you've got plenty of time to switch your foot from the clutch to the brake
haha all i know is my almost stock 460 c6 has no problem whatsoever. Add a little of this oregon rain into the equation and its like driving on ice when you drive like i do!
But seriously tho Bullit390 that thing sounds badass.
I can easily burnout off the line with my 76 2wd w/ the 460 and LS rear...even with the C6, just floor it. Ain't tried with the brakes yet. And its only a 3.25 rear.... Should be a blast when i get 3.75s or 4.10s(undecided) and a manual in it!
I could spin coming off the line in the bronc (dead stock 400 as far as i know) when i had the stock tires and a 3.08 rear, should do it fine now with the 33s and the 4.10s, but my trans is slipping a lot more now, so I haven't risked it.

And it matter how if he's in 2wd? Should be better actually, since most 4x4s are geared lower than 2wds, they're easier to spin.
And for that matter, I've seen and been in trucks that'll roast all 4 tires.... ya just want to be careful and do it with less traction if possible so ya don't snap something... It's great with full time 4x4 trucks, with the t-case out of lock so it slips some, you can reeeeaaaly spin 'em and not worry.
Wanna do something cool sometime, take out the rear driveshaft in a 4x4, and burnout with the front... gets the funniest looks at stop lights/street drags!
