Im starting my first major project its a f100 ranger xlt. It has a 360 that if I can find all the parts will be a 410. the tranny is in the shop as I type its a C6 its getting a rebuild and shift kit.
besides the rottating assembly what would be best for intake and carb? I currently have an edelbrock 1406 on my junk chevy with a 305. but my ford will have alot more power. holley has the new street avenger that says i can bolt it on and go. Im not realy partial to either. also can any one tell me what other things may suprise me durring the rebuild/conversion to a 410? I have more qwestions but Ill start new threads as i get into this.
thank you verry much for any info you could give me. I have been looking allaround fte for about a month and i know alot of you have great amounts of knowledge to share. this site is the best
use a Performer RPM, a Edelbrock 427 or a Ford PI intake. Get a Holley Avenger in the 650-700 cfm range. Use a Pertronix ignition and run headers. You will be very happy!!
headers and heads are both thing i have looked in to a little. its intakes and carbs im just not real sure about, so i will surtenly look into your suggestions thank you so much.
You also might check some of the local junkyards for a real carter-afb 600 or 750. It'll probably need a rebuild (replace gaskets, rods, etc) but they're good carbs.
it sounds like a plan any other surprises that might come up? like fabrication of any kind, that would be the one thing that worrys me the most
thanks again for all your help like I said on one of my other threads Id be lost without this site and all of you to help
are you running headers? most people I have talked to said that alone would show alot of improvment.
belive me Im looking into everything you guys tell me about, this is my first project and I have big hopes. I havent found a job I cant do yet but I always need to find people I can go to for info. This stuff yall are telling me is awsome. my bigest problem when it comes to cars and trucks is every thing is still dodads and gizmose. I can fix them replace them or just flat out make them work. ussually i have to take the part to the store and say I need a new one and thats when I know the name or part for the first time.
I dont know why I went in to all that. I guess that by everyone knowing my deal then they may understand the help I need.
so thanx again for all your help. I just cant get over how nice you guys are. and the help you provide please keep it coming....
