For the rear,I think you'll have to do a shackle reversal or somethin along those lines.I'm not much for bringin em down,so maybe someone more knowledgeable can hop in and help ya out.
Very first thing you need to do, look under the front where the spindle and I-beam meet. 80/81 used king pins, and I know that 83+ used ball joints. 82 is the one year that I cannot remember which style was used.
King pins = good luck finding drop beams. Best way to go, is get ball joint spindles.
Ball joints = easy to find drop beams.

Wouldn't he have to replace the IFS arms too?
Also,In the linky I posted, they listed them for 65 to 78 Kingpin trucks.I don't see why they couldn't be used for 80/81 too?

The "IFS arms" are the I-beams, and if going to drop beams, no need for salvage yard items. While rare, there are even some F100 ball joint spindles that can be found, for the smaller 4.5" bolt pattern brakes, while the F150 spindles are much more plentiful.
The 65-79 models had longer I-beams than 80-96. Most notably, they are both longer, as well as the same length each side. 80/81 and *maybe* 82 are pretty much left out these days. The DJM drop beams are only available for the 83-96 ball joint design, new. Every now and then, used or NOS king pin beams will show up for the 80-82 models.

I misread your first post, and thought you were suggesting just putting ball joint knuckles on the Kingpin IFS arms.
I see.I don't know much about the pre-80 trucks,so I wasn't sure.Good to know though.
I think the wheel pattern break down is if the truck (80-82?) has power or non-power brakes.
I say this as I have 2 - 81's one of each and each has different patterns.
FYI king pins are 2 different sizes based on the same power / non-power brakes.

I wish you will consider Crown Vic swap so I can see how it's done. Also, I rad some bad reviews on the latest DJM drop kit
I don't think I have seen a CV swap on our year trucks only the older ones.
If you do a Youtube search or Goolge search you will find a lot of them.
The ones I like is they take the full frame, running gear, floor pan & fire wall and graft the truck cab onto it. Again only seen this on the older trucks.
As for others doing the CV swap I would say id beyond most skills of the people on here. If they did have the skills then it is the tools and a place to do it other than at work as some bosses don't let people work in the shop after hours.
As for the bad press on the DJM kit what did you hear and do you have any links to it? Some day I would like to lower mine but would need to swap to ball joint spindles as mine has king pins. Dave ----
