brakes!!!

I had a rear left brake cylinder that was leaking on my 1988 ford f-150. I replaced it and decided to do the other next. I was bleeding the brakes on the right side before that though and everything went fine. After replacing the right side I went to bleed them but no fluid would come out. If I pressed on the breaks you could turn the left side but you but not the right. I have no right rear breaks! My rear-antilock light had been on for a while but I didn't know why. What is going on with that right rear brake????

My guess is the brake cylinder is defective.
ok, try this: take the drum back off, now take the shoes off, now on the wheel cylinder pull the rubber boots back and pull the pistons out, inspect them. You will get equal pressure for both rear brakes so the problem must lye in the wheel cylinder.
While apart check for anything in the cylinder that may be causing the problem.
Pull the bleeder out check it over, blow through it, and make sure there’s no blockage. Put it back together, and try again. If no go get a cylinder.
If you don’t feel comfortable doing any of this just return it and get a different one.
FYI, if there’s fluid in the cylinder, but not bleeding out, just get a different one.

Look at the rear brake (not "break" ) line from the splitter block on the L side of the diff all the way across to the R brake backing plate, especially where it goes behind the sway bar & spring U-bolts. If you've ever backed into something, you could have flattened the line.

While trying to bleed the brakes I unhooked the brake line and no fluid came out. So I do not think it is the brake cylinder. I will check the brake lines but I doubt that's what it is. Any other ideas?

You could try a hand vacuume pump on the line and suck the fluid through with a one man brake bleeder bottle. Just follow the instructions on the vacuume pump package. I have flushed brakes before that the fluid looked just like chewing tobaco. Real chunky stuff.

One more thing. If you do buy the vacuume pump. Shop around. They cost about $22. But I noticed for the same money, some are all platic including the guage. While others are all metal with a nice metal guage with glass face and brass pump. Go for the metal. Bleeder bottle is about $5. Check Auto Zone. I think they carry all metal pumps.
