My o6 6.0 is smoking like crazy and has no power. It was running grate all day but after dinner i went to start it up and this happened what can it be.Its only got 40,000 miles on it help.
sounds like a bad egr cooler. dealer can pull a vacuum on coolant system to see if it is leaking. and if it is then u are getting coolant in your intake and getting burned off causing the white smoke.
or you could have valve that is not getting seated. i have had both happen to me that caused excessive smoking. my truck would barely go 45mph down road with bad valve, no power at all..
white smoke can also be a fuel injector or ficm. tech folder has procedure for cheaking ficm voltage and to fix the solder joints as well does exhuast smell like coolant
i had the truck towed to dealer and they said it was the egr cooler leaking. It needs a new egr cooler and oil cooler and the turbo needs to be reconditioned. The dealer replaced the egr cooler last year and since then i only put nine thousand miles on it.Its going to cost me two thousand seven hundred dollars to replace it.I have contacted ford warranty and they will get back to me in 24hrs if it will be covered.Ive owned ford trucks for thirty years i cant see spending the money to fix it and have it happen again next year it mite be time to leave ford. This is a grate web site and all the member are very help full thanks.
If they replaced the EGR cooler without replacing the oil cooler, then you should be able to get some compensation for the repeat failure. I am fairly sure that the Ford procedure specifies to replace the oil cooler also if you have an EGR cooler failure.
hey i dont mean to hijack, but im having the same issue.sorta. when i giv'r the truck smokes white. but im not having any codes and im not having any power loss... ive also been running dyed diesel (canadian farm fuel) would that matter? ideally it should still be blowing black with a hint of red?
