engine is out, turbo is off, fuel bowl, fuel pump, up pipes are off and the manifolds are coming off tonight. got some pics. having too much fun to upload them lol.
noticed that when i turned the truck off, that there was a grinding noise. plus my oil level has been going down over time. i checked for leaks and found none. i put the two together and figured the seals in the turbo went bad so i started to look at it. the grinding was from the turbine rubbing the housing. i determined the barrings were shot. i was correct. its alot easier to take the turbo off when you pull the engine. plus i want to do more to it. like headers, head studs. stuff like that so im buying a new turbo, maybe installing an intercooler
Its been fun to watch the project so far.
The best part is all the duramax drivers' + lovers' faces when they hear the plans. haha.
But I'll let jacob tell you about that.
Only 4 posts in this thread and none of them say what exactly is going on with this thing. So whats the plan? putting a stock turbo back on it? My engine will be getting pulled before long to install some ported heads, studs, turbo, ceramic coated bellowed uppipes, and some other stuff.
