VC-9 before repairs. / ?

I am in the process of joining the "club" of doing the infamous 'egr cooler delete" as well as installing a rebuilt kit for the oil cooler.
I noticed that VC-9 is an important ingredient during the coolant circut cleaning process.

I wanted to know if using VC-9 before any attempted repairs is necessary.

I will be using VC-9 after the repair since I'm almost done removing parts to access the intake, but it seems to me a benefit if this cleaner was used PRIOR to any dismantling of engine components.

In other words do it before and after a egr cooler & oil cooler R&R would be my question/statement. It seems the "right/****" thing to do.

I don't think the shops would do it this way though.

Any thoughts?

Seems to me that the cleaning AFTER would just start the crud build up faster into the NEW/replaced cooler(s). Would thing that a BEFORE cleaning would break the crud loose and you would FLUSH it out prior to installing the new cooler(s). But, I'm usually ALWAYS wrong in these matters!

You will like that diesel site coolant filter. Directions are straight forward, easy install 30-45 minutes tops.

according to TSB 09-8-3
The vehicle to be flushed with VC-9 following the WSM procedure.

it seems prudent to do this before disassembly.

Cheezit says that Ford procedure is to VC9 flush AFTER replacing the oil cooler.

But, I agree with you all. I just wouldn't be comfortable flushing a bunch of crud through a new cooler.
