i was goin to get cherry bombs put on my truck on Monday and the guy at the shop pointed something out to me. one of my bolts on the exhaust manifold has broken off. well he said he can fix it but there is always a chance that the ear on the block could break off. do any of you guys know if that is a big deal? or should i leave the bolt broken in there?
You must be talking about an FE engine.... i had the same thing happen to my truck.
lucky for me i had the dog house off and was able to drill the broken bolt out and chase the threads with a die. in my opinion you need all the bolts in to get a good seal with no leaks at the manifold, IF it does not leak now, dont worry about it.
i know my engine is a 360, not sure if its a FE or not.
it looks like it could be leaking. if i do get it done and the ear breaks off the block will that ruin anything?

yes.... the head will be no good. does not affect the block at all
I would not let the shop take the head off to do the work, (If you do... no telling what else they will tell you it needs before they can put it back together) 15-20 nuts and bolts and you can remove the inner finder to get to the bolt with a drill. I started with a 1/8th inch and center punched the broken bolt so the bit would not drift around.
