Hey guys and gals. It's been awhile since I've been here but I really need your help. I have a 1970 F-250 camper special and I need help getting the starter out. From under the truck I see two bolts. One is at the bottom of the starter and the other is 90 degrees from it to the passenger side. The rest I will have to feel for because I can't see around the starter. How many more are there and where abouts are they in conjunction with the others (let's say the bottom one is at 6 o'clock and the one on the passenger door side of the starter is 9 o'clock.
a starter is very easy. there should be 3 bolts. mine only was held on by 2. only thing that would make it difficult is if you had jungle gym headers like i do.
Thanks for the reply Dave. I went and bought the new starter and was able to see the bolt pattern. It took all of 15 minutes to remove and install the new one. BTW mine also was only held on with two of three bolts.
mine was so bad that sometimes it would just screetch and be the most embarassing sound ever. i had thought maybe it was the teeth on the flexplate, but then one day when the starter exploded on me in a parking lot at 7/11, it was a slam dunk replacing that sucker. it now goes hoorah with alot of force when i turn that key.
