I HAD to get it....

in 2002 went to look @ an Escalade with the wife... liked them from afar....

on the way there, saw Grand Prairie Ford off I-30 had a 2002 on close out....

test drove the 7.3 and liked it - especially the price @ 10K of list... so got it...

then got the 03 on a buy back....

loved it so much when I heard the 05's were last of the breed, traded it in on it... and almost MADE money on it....

The 05 is a keeper !!!

And I didn't NEED any of them, just wanted them....

And amazing how my wife can fill it up for a 3 day trip.... anymore and we have to pull a trailer

How else would we tote a 14' kayak, the Howler (my rockcrawler) plus all the gear for both on vacation in comfort?

It holds the most people comfortably without going to a 9 or 15 passenger van. We have 6 kids. We had a conversion van but those are generally limit to 7 passengers and the Ex goes to 8. It is also much "cooler" than a 9 or 15 passenger van.

We looked at suburbans as well and they officially can sit the same number of people but they are noticeably narrower than the EX and that makes a big difference when you have 3 car seats to get into the back row.

We bought ours because we love the outdoors. I can fit my Lab, decoys, blind, and hunting buddy and still have room for stuff.

In November (Wisconsin) I can fit all the GUNS and gear for deer hunting and plenty of room for food and beverages.

In Spring, Summer, and Fall I pull the boat and gear to all the lakes.

And I fit 9 people...including the bride, at my daughters wedding. That is still the best memory.

Now in September it mean the world to me to bring home my first grandchild/grandson/hunting-fishing buddy. She is due on the 10th.

I originally had a couple of Navigators, but wanted something more economical and new so I traded it in for a Saturn Outlook. Big mistake. It barely got better mileage and while it had a DVD player, overall comfort was not there like the Lincolns. Then my wife had our new baby. The first time we all went grocery shopping with the four kids and a stroller in the back, I ran out of room. That's when I got the "OK" from the wife!

We now can all ride in comfort, kids can watch movies, our Golden Retriever can comfortably rest between the captain chairs and we can fit the stroller, tools AND luggage in the back with room for more while I get 17-19 MPG on trips! Man, I love this truck!

Practicality was our first priority as we have 3 kids and the 4Runner nor the G35 could hold all 5 of us for any distance, and forget about hauling friends. We also dirtbike and atv so the towing is a plus.

But with that said, these vehicles are the bomb and I will run mine until it dies then put another engine in it and start all over!

Plus I like it when I pull up next to people and their eyes get all big and their face says "how dare they own something that big"...
