Hi all. My 96 F150 will miss for about 15 seconds on cold start up. After that it runs fine. It's a 300 with 158k on it. Plugs, wires, cap and rotor have about 20k on them. It doesn't do it all the time or long enough so I'm having trouble isolating the cause. It tripped the check engine light once and I reset it by disconnecting the battery which I know isn't the right way but I don't have a scan tool or code reader. Oil changes are done at 3500 miles and the fuel filter is changed every 3rd oil change. No noises or smoke. Any ideas?

Disconnecting the battery won't hurt anything but now the CEL code might be gone. Check for codes anyway after you drive it for an hour or so after you disconnected the battery. You don't need a code reader, just a paperclip. Go here to find out how:
