Well, I'm getting religion, and I thought that I'd get a torque wrench to use on my lug nuts. I also have some small engine stuff and a lifetime project car to use it on.
I thought that a beam type would be OK, especially since they are supposed to stay in cal. I looked at Sears, and the only reasonably priced one was a clicker that everyone rated as junk.
Any thoughts? I know that a clicker is more convenient, but I have an inch pound beam type, and it seems to work OK.
for occasional home use, go with the beam-type Craftsman, 1/2" drive, ft/lb model....if you are trying to earn a living with it, go with the Snap-on clicker type.
even if you're a pro, the beam-type from Craftsman is fine for occasional use- I still have one in my box at work
added bonus- last I heard, the Craftsman warrantee covered the beam-type, but not their clicker-type (info is somewhat dated, dunno if it's still current)
I have a 3/8" drive in lb and a 1/2" ft lb clicker type torque wrenches made by SK. Both came with a blow molded case and cost a little over $100 each. They do everything I need them to do.
I have a craftsman clicker type 1/2", and it works good enough for my home use. I do all my own rotations and remove the wheels a decent number of times a year.
