Dodge ram gun rack

Dodge has come up with a new twist on the gun rack for a pick-up truck.

FOXNews.com - Chrysler's Gun-Toting Pickup Truck

I wonder how long until the first one shows up at the body shop for repair. You know that these are going to invite break ins.
Would you pay $2100.00 for this option?

I don't care what it holds...I would never have something like that on a truck of mine. I don't particullarly care for power windows or door locks myself...

On further inspection...by the looks of that latch, I could open it in about a minute or less with a crowbar. My guns ride with me in the cab anyways...no matter what. I have made a friend of mine ride in the bed of my truck so my guns would have a spot in the cab while we were on our way to go shoot

WELL NOW LET'S THINK ABOUT THIS ....... IF YOU TURN THE RACK AROUND SO THE BARRELS ARE FACING REARWARD , THEN PUT TWO " EXTENSIONS " ON THE GUNS THROUGH TO THE BACK OF THE TRUCK ..... THEN PUT A REMOTE TIGGERING MECHANISM ON THEM YOU COULD SURE TAKE CARE OF ALL THE BUTT MUNCH TAILGATERS AND IDGIT'S IN THE FURRIN' CARS FLASHING THEIR LIGHTS TO PASS YOU ............ KIND OF A REDNECK JAMES BOND THING !!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Typical Dodge- Expecting people to just drive down the road with a rifle at their back.
It is somewhat clever, though, as most states require firearms to be locked in a separate compartment.

I don't really see anything wrong with it at all. It's a good idea. If Ford would have been the first to introduce something like this it would have been the greatest thing to ever come down the pike.

No.........Its a invitation to punk azz thieves to see what you may have in there, they are hoping it is guns or tools. Add together loss of property + property damage to the truck, not pleasant.........even if there is nothing stored in there, you still have the potential for them to damage the truck just to find out!

Any locking "cubby" or compartment invites an effort to open it. But how many times does someone pry open your trunk?

Break the window, yes; fool with metal--maybe not so much.

I'd like to see a better latch, maybe two.

But, for transport, this certainly takes any question away about guns within the reach of the driver. And, they are out of sight, so you're not going to get the "felony stop" treatment if you are pulled over for a tail light...

If they are empty, as they should be, what does it matter where they are pointed? I know the rule, but the truth is, with a rifle or handgun carried in a case, it's going to be pointed at someone at some point, just because you can't constantly move it from horizontal to vertical etc.

A bit of a high price for the whole package, imo, so I'd have to really be sold on the total package, latch strength, etc.

I think it's kinda neat, but not worth the high price tag for something I can buy used for $20-40 and just bolt onto the side.

No thanks. Looks to easy to pop open with a pry bar. Eliminates the option of a traditional tool box that fits over the bed rails, not to mention pictures of rifle pointing up your back side while you "Dodge" potholes and bumps does not exactly seem like the best car advertisement in the world.

55 F350 I think you blew up the box. It's ok crazy people are way more fun to hang out with then normal people.

I like that though you need a gun to your back to drive a new fangled piece of crap

In all honesty, it would be decent for transport to the range or deer lease or ex wives house, but not for full time storage. I can promise some guy who has this right now, has 2-3 guns packed in there thinking they're all nice and safe until he gets ready to go to work in the morning. These are the people, when we show up at their house to take the report, we have to bite our tongue to not ask what the hell were you thinking?

safe ?????????? no !!!!!!!!!! my grandaughters could pry it open with a butter knife and the oldest is 8 . only safe place for a gun if you aren't transporting it too a hunt etc. { p.s i like the ex wife remark !!!!!! } is locked up at home . leaving them anywhere in a vehicle is just asking to have it broken into . hades they'll destroy your vehicle for a few bucks in change and a couple of cd's , think what's gonna happen to that fancy bed if they think there's a gun in it . so do ya get away with eliminating cheating ex - wives legally in texas ????? might have too move temporarily there seeing as she's a travelling nurse and is down there somewhere right now playing while the guy she left me for is here playing mr. mom ...............

Oh, heck no, I wouldn't buy that box on my truck.
1. I'm not pointing my rifles (even though I KNOW they're not loaded) at my back.
2. I'm not inviting someone to break into the 'box' and steal MY 'stuff'.

On the other hand, I could turn the rifles around, and drive down the road with the James Bond Theme playing REAL LOUD on the radio!!
