Stuck in Butte, Montana

P040D Exhaust Gas Recirculation Temperature (EGRT) Sensor A Circuit High
P1000

These are the codes I am getting on my buddy's 08 F350. We are on vacation and we had trouble with his truck going into regen mode all the time, for the last two days.

He has had trouble before with the DPF plugging and has had it replaced once already.

The truck was completely stock yesterday, and it went into a limp mode and would not accelerate. He was pulling a 5th wheel weighing about 13000 lbs. Anyway we were lucky enough to "breakdown" near Livingston
Montana and went in to see Steel at GOS.

Last night we installed a 4 inch exhaust system and an EDGE CTS while drinking beer in the campground. Anyway there were no codes last night and we made it to Butte today with the trailers. Then the codes above started popping up and it has no power. It also tried to regen "cleaning exhaust filter" even though we programmed in with the CTS that there is no DPF to be cleaned. The Exhaust is 4 inch Flo Pro from the down pipe back. Cat and DPF removed.

Can anybody help us troubleshoot?<!-- GAL --> <TABLE border=0 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=400><TBODY><TR><TD height=5 width=5></TD><TD style="BACKGROUND: url(http://thedieselgarage.com/forums/images/misc/forumbox_top_tile.gif)" height=5></TD><TD height=5 width=6></TD></TR><TR><TD style="BACKGROUND: url(http://thedieselgarage.com/forums/images/misc/forumbox_left_tile.gif)" width=5></TD><TD class=forumbox><TABLE class=alt1 border=0 cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=6 width="100%"><TBODY><TR><TD class=tcat align=left>GOS Performance </TD></TR><TR><TD style="BACKGROUND: #ffffff; COLOR: #000000" align=left>******** onmouseover=GAL_keepopen(); onmouseout=GAL_hidepopup(); height=450 src="http://www.gosperformance.com/" width="100%">Your browser doesnt show Iframes!*********>

P1000, just ignore:
P1000 RESET OBD Systems Readiness
Test Not Complete
This error occurs when all other DTC’s have been
erased from the system. This error will subside
when all OBD monitors have been completed.

P040D:

P040D X X X
Exhaust Gas Recirculation
Temperature Sensor
A Circuit High
This error occurs when the EGR cooler inlet sensor
temperature output value is lower (higher voltage
signal) than a minimum probable temperature,
indicating an open circuit or short to power.
N > 650 rpm
torque setpoint >53 N-m
ECT > 60 deg C
4.65v >5sec
Wiring, Tegr_IN sensor, PCM

Most likely it is the sensor itself.

Look at the sensor right off of the valve.

All fixed up and back home in Alberta. Turns out that the pyro in the passenger side up pipe was the culprit. We picked up the necessary replacement at the Ford dealer in Butte and put it in the truck after the wives and kids went to sleep. 1 am Sunday morning we had her up and running like a champ.

Bringing this one back up, my truck has the same problem and same code. Where is the inlet sensor located? Is it right next to the EGR valve? Anyone have a picture?

follow the up pipe to the passenger side exhaust and you will see it there. Look from below.
