Today I spent my afternoon working on the a/c for my 2000 X V10. Last week I had a seal blow on the compressor. While the situation sucked I knew I needed to work on the system anyway since the rear a/c didn't function.
I removed the rear interior so I could make sure the blend and directional doors were working and to get a better look at whats back there. It really seems like a simple set up. My suspicion has always been the expansion valve so I picked one up from the dealer and installed it. After the seal was replaced I threw in a new orifice valve, vacuumed the system and recharged.
When it came time to start the engine the front a/c went cold right away. Still needing to add more 134 I figured the rear would cool down soon enough. Once I finished the charge I had 37/204 (105 degrees) stabilized on the gages (my fancy new digital ones that make me look really cool to the neighbors). Still NO cold air in the back!!!! WTF???? The expansion valve and the evap discharge are not getting cold. It's like there's no flow. I traced the lines to make sure nothing was bent or crushed and everything appears ok.
I did take it for a short test drive and again nothing but warm air in back. The only thing I can think of is a blockage in one of the lines or in the rear evaporator. What else could it possibly be? Is there a screen or second orifice valve downstream that could be blocked?
