LETS SEE YOUR MODS!

Hey guys, Lets see some pictures of recent and non-recent mods to your IDI's! Air intakes, custom bumpers, tire and wheel upgrades, interior mods, guages!!! I wanna see whats goin on out there! Maybe some of them didn't work but show us what not to do and give some insight! I'm thinking about painting the old brute (the cheap way) anyone done this? how'd it turn out? Any tips?? Thanks Everyone!

There's my latest mod, too bad it didn't work out quite as planned - those in the 235/85-16 size don't fit good on 2wd dually wheels, you need 4x4 dually wheels or aftermarket spacer between the 2wd ones.

Unfortunately you're correct on both counts - they are not working out for me, but they will work out great for you. However no, I will not ship them to you, because misery loves company and if I can't use them properly as they sit now then you shouldn't be allowed to either

I did the implement ( Ford tractor blue) paint complete on my old IDI, using mineral oil. It turned out pretty well with some orange peel (not much worse than factory.) This was my 1st attempt at using HVLP gun and had more trouble adjusting to it than anything. The mineral oil would cause the paint to set up before paint had good opportunity to flow. (I tried to get some reducer, but paint suppliers would say, "you want whaaaat?" And yeah, I used to be the jefe painter at a big 3 dealership in another life.

I also have gauges on the pillar but I guess I don't have any pics of those or something.

lol i just popped the trim pieces off and pulled the door panels to get the trim off those.and i had some camo vinyl tape put the tape on then use heat like a hair dryer or heat gun on a low setting to form it and wrap it at least 1/4" behind the trim panel te help it stay stuck.if you dont it will eventually peel off.i just used the no-mar camo tape used to camo guns and stuff from walmart.i do plan on pulling and and doing it with better tape.but this stuff has held up for a couple years now

i think it ended up costing me $3 lol

Rupe I love it, Thats Friggin SWEET! Ghunt i love the mirror, HOW? lol, any info for me on what i'd need to do that on mine? Looking great guys, how many of the powerstroke guys do you see with the immagination of us IDI guys? NOT MANY, thats cuz they have to save their money for the shop fixing that computer ridden thing! haha, I think we should have a common law that when you do a mod on your truck you should have a camera on hand the whole time!! lol, i'll do my best with this when i start working on her! KEEP IT UP GUYS! Keep the pics and mods rolling in here

i did it. it took me a day. its easy or mildly difficult. depends on what way you go. if you keep your radiator core support (i did) then you gotta cut out for the headlights and blinkers. also gotta mod the fender a little bit because of the fender/hood slope cuts into the top of the support. just nibble out the pinch section at the tip and your good. if you use the 92+ core support then its just a matter of bolting it on. you also need the cowl piece and you will need to weld new bumper brackets.
