I would change all of the fluids to synthetic for sure. Make sure your batteries are up to par as well as your GP system. Is there any way that you can use a timer and have it come on every so many hours for X amout of time? That way it is not plugged in for 2 weeks straight but does get some warmth to it as well.
My nephew had his brake lines freeze a couple of winters ago in Colorado. I suppose there was water in the line?
At any rate, he installed new lines and now places cardboard in the wheel wells to keep the wind from blowing over the lines. Seems to work well and keeps heat from the block heater contained under the hood as well. Might work for you as well.
Good luck up there this winter. I visited Alaska a couple of months ago. Spent a week up there. Fantastic place to visit.
