Hello all first yes I read the thread in the tech folder but it didn't really answer all my questions I will be moving to Fairbanks Alaska this summer and I am concerned about my truck during the winter months my questions are will the factory block heater be enough during the -60 winters? I already use shell rotella 5w40 synthetic and optima red top batteries will I need a trans pan heater? Oil pan heater? Battery blankets? I already plan on getting a radiator cover and I have done the mods in my sig can anyone give me any additional advice should I go with a circulating heater instead of the block heater? I will also be taking my 05 v6 escape up there to what should be done to that if anyone knows I planned on just a circulating heater for it any and all advice would be great thank you all very much
i live in whitehorse yukon canada and we have about the same winters. just a stock block heater will do, a trany heater, good batteries and blankets would help. just remember that you will have to plug the truck in with out overloading the outlet and blowing the breaker every time. alot of pepole will just leave them run if it really gets cold, might want to have a idle up installed to. if you are going to be doing a lot of driving on the highway than it is a good idea to put a belly tarp on,just helps keep the cold out. for your escape the block heater and winter front will do.
