My fuel gauge hardly ever works. Maybe 5 minutes a month at the most. It stays at the empty mark like it isn'r reading the fuel level, then all the sudden it will start working for just a few minutes then nothing for about 3 or 4 weeks. I have check all the wiring all the wat to the tank. What could cause this??????

might be the internal float inside the gas tank gettin hung up on something.

 

It is probably the sending unit as it is in most cases on these trucks. The variable resistor follower on the level sensor wears and looses contact.

 

yea that happened to me. i went four wheelin and like a few days afterward it wont work under half tank. now i'm putting 5$ in like every other day til spring comes so i can drop the tank and see whats wrong
