INCREASE PAYLOAD CAPACITY WITH LEAF SPRING HELPER
INCREASE PAYLOAD CAPACITY WITH LEAF SPRING HELPER
Has anyone ever used a leaf spring helper?
Would it increase payload capacity?
If yes what truck did you use it on? And well did it work?

The big bolt-on-top helpers (like the Hellwig packs) require the removal of the factory aux springs if you have an F350 or equipped F250. Personally I'd rather have the aux springs that aren't always engaged than the helper springs. Timbren extended bumpstops or airbags are the most popular aftermarket spring assistance around here, both work very well. Add-a-leaf kits are not so popular because they really do stiffen up the rear end, but all the time, not selectively like the other options I mentioned.
It's just like the Aggie said, nothing boosts you payload capacity because that number is based on your curb weight subtracted from the GVWR, but all these products will make carrying your maximum payload a much better experience.

Check these out, I had them on my 99 F250 and loved them...
The truck handled great.
If my dually didn't have overload leafs, the Roasmasters would be on it now.

I am fan of air bags. Have them on my bus conversion and added to my F450. Nothing like have additional 5000 lb lift at the push of compressor button.
All of that for just few pounds of extra weight.

i agree with the air bags. i have them in my 01 250 front and rear with the comp and tank. i can adjust front to rear with how i have them set up.i have had all most 2 ton in a 250 short box and i leveled it out and didn't look like anything was in there.i just come off my switch them teed them off to each bag.
You can upgrade all of the limiting components to safely increase capacity (tires and wheels are the limit on low rated super duties), but that will not LEGALLY increase the load capacity. The legal GVWR is what is on the door, what Ford paid to have it classified as, and what you pay for in your registration fees.
Now, out on your own property, upgrade the wheels and tires and add airbags and you can haul a lot more. Just don't exceed the rating of the weak link for your personal safety.
