What year is your truck? I would suggest the Hellwig 61903. This is what I put on the f-150 in my signature. They have worked very well for me and they are dead quiet. Gives you another 2500 lbs. Remember it won't increase tire or axle ratings. http://www.hellwigproducts.com/produ...ol/pro-series/ You can get them here-http://www.amazon.com/Hellwig-61903-Helper-Spring-Feature/dp/B001UFRWIC

well I put them on Tuesday evening, I was a little skyptical at first if they would really do anything, but I hauled a full size bronco on my car trailer today without any kind of weight distribution hitch up north for an hour and a half and they helped alot from keeping my rear end from sagging. Im going to test them again when I get a load of gravel in the next week or so.

Even though they may help a little, I would never put them on my truck.

Agreed, they only strengthen one side of the leaf, which means the two sides are unequally strained under a load... not a good idea.

Is it really a good idea to be loading more than 1/2 ton in a standard frame f-150? I have torn down a couple of f-150's and 250's with a buddy of mine who parted them out. The 3/4 ton frame on the 250 is significantly taller than the 1/2 ton frame on the f-150. I always just assumed that the frame, springs, and everything else were kind of "tuned" for a specific payload limit and to significantly exceed that you would need to replace everything. I have a 4x4 f 150 xl, being a 4x4 it has the 3" leafs, but unless I am mistaken it is still rated as a 1/2 ton because of the frame. Just sayin' but what do I know???

@ Rudiak: "This is what I put on the f-150 in my signature. They have worked very well for me. Gives you another 2500 lbs."
so the base capacity of the truck is 1/2 ton or 1,000 lbs of payload. add 2,500 lbs and it's 3,500 lbs of cargo capacity? in a 150?? I would NEVER attempt to use all of that. F-350's are 1 ton base then go up. you are talking about just putting in leafs and getting 1.75 tons of cargo capacity? If I have misinterpreted you post I apologize, but that just doesn't seem possible in a 150.

Anything's possible. With a C6 trans, you can haul anything ONCE.

Wouldn't want anything more than about 1350# in a 150 everyday, there's so many things other than the frame that just aren't built for it.

I had 3500lbs in my 150 over the summer, not recomended but it hauled it, only at about 35-40MPH and the hitch damn near drug the pavement, but i didnt break the truck in half, blow out the tires, destroy my engine or tranny (old 4 speed), and didnt snap the leaf springs, this was BEFORE i put those helpers on. I also had my 150-200lbs toolbox in the bed with my 200+lbs ladder rack on the bed. Had an extra person with me too. y'all can say what you want but these trucks will haul some good size loads, even it being a 26 yr old half ton truck...

What the truck will move, and what it will move safely have two completely different definitions.
