If you haven't put synthetic ATF in your power steering reservoir, then this is just her way of saying "I want the good stuff!" :P

I have had the same luck at my house and my parents house the last two months. As soon as I get one thing fixed, something else turns loose.
Trying to keep up two places now since Daddy died in June unexpectantly....

Make sure it's a virgin Prius...

Get it over to Bill's and we can wrench on it.

Thanks for the offers of help. I'll probably fix this tomorrow. My back has been killing me for a while. As fast as this is leaking, I don't think I'll be able to hobble over anywhere.

But it should be a fairly easy fix. Most likely it's the line.

Now would be a fine time to add a MagneFine filter in-line to a return hose in that system.

It would use the 3/8-inch size if you did it.

Good Lord, guess the planets must be in alignment again...I just had to the same thing!

I mistakenly think the pump is gone, so I replace it with an Autozone lifetime warranty part, it just happens to be a Ford part stamped with a Ford part number...

Upon closer inpection: a line was caught between the PS pump and after a year and a half, sprung a leak and gave out...replace the cooler to pump line.

I put that back on, put everything back together and it's still leaks...replace the pump to hydroboost line.

Finally the truck is fixed...

It's a hell of an ordeal, but once you git'r done you'll feel better...

ya, what happens when you put ATF in your power steering fluid resevuor? did you do that? how can you fix it? My buddy just did this same thing in his SD. HA, he just used a ladel to suck it out and replace with PSF. And he repeated many times to reduce the mixture to mostly PSF.

Our trucks use ATF in the Power steering system not power steering fluid.

Not sure what the ill effects on having power steering fluid in there instead of ATF but I would get it out of there and replace with the proper stuff. Here's a procedure to flush the system. Works very well without using the ladle.

Syn

new fluid makes your brakes work alot better too, really firmed up my pedal. the Mobil 1 syn has a considerable better life than regular ATF is the major advantage, go a long time with out another flush
