Confused over shifting

Gents I have a 2002 dually and have become confused with a buddy of mine over the shifting pattern. I have a DP tuner installed with 60tow, 80e and 140a. My question is with the converter. Under light throttle at around 30 mph it makes a shift which I always assumed to be the shift into overdrive then at 42 mph it makes a final shift which I always assumed to be the torque convertor locking up. My buddy says Im backwards. he says the shift I feel at 30 is the torque converter locking and the shift at 42 is the shift into overdrive. can someone please help answer this question for me as now I'm really confused. I plan on sending the chip back to Jody and adding the 120 race and had in mind to adjust a few shift patterns for my style of driving but now I dont know which shift is the converter and which shift is the one into overdrive. Sorry to have such a dumb question but Im not a mechanic by no means. Thanks in advance. Maxx

Not 100% sure but I think your buddy is right. More people should be along to help with this question shortly.

Maxx,

Your friend is right. The "shift" you feel at 30-35 MPH is the torque converter clutch being applied and the shift at 42-45 is the 3-4 upshift.

Good call Duck Hunter81.

You don't know until you ask. Jody can adjust the TC lockups and unlocks if you need or want him to. He has mine as near perfect for my driving as I think you can get.
