Angry Won't start after computer reset

After replacing my vss in order to try to fix a blinking od light I decided to also reset the computer with a battery disconnect for 1hr. This actually fixed my problem but has caused yet another one. After reset, I was able to crank and run all day doing what I do. After sitting overnight, it will not crank. Won't even act like it is going to fire. So, I have learned that to fix this I have to reset the computer, which takes 20-30 minutes and then I am on my way. But after another night of the truck sleeping in the garage, it will not start and the whole process starts over again. It will start in the morning but only after a reset. This gets really aggravating and I can not figure it out. Please help!!!!!

I moved this to the 7.3 forum since you had no answers overnight, and this is a VERY perplexing problem.

When you say "crank" does the starter actually engage and turn the engine and it just won't start? Or it won't crank at all?

When I say crank I mean it will continually turn over with starter, but no indication that it will ever fire. After repeated tries. Now after having done this apparently too long, it has killed something. When I tried to start it this morning, their was a clicking sound from beneath the steering wheel and it continues until I turn the key back off. Batteries are good, wait to start light and all dash lights are on until I try to start and then everything dies and the dreaded clicking starts beneath the column. Not sure what to do now.

The Dreaded clicking sound you describe is a classic symptom of weak batteries or a bad connection somewhere. The clicking is dropping in and out due to low voltage. Not sure what unhooking the batteries would do to make it start, but you need to check the cranking voltage before you go any much further.

Clean all the battery connections, including the ground to body connections. Like Barry said, have the batts checked because the clicking under the dash is what happens when batts are not charged. If you have a meeter, check that you are getting no less then 10.5 volts while cranking. That's what the IDM needs to see to fire the injectors.
