Since the vendor supplied info is short on detail, and I know there are at least a few others out there who are like me in that they are "electrical experts", hopefully this writeup can provide some useful info for anyone else who wants to run a similar upgrade path.
Bottom line... would I recommend Quick Start for an alternator upgrade option? Yes, I would. They seem to make excellent equipment (from what I know at this point), they are helpful over the phone if you have questions, but you need to be aware of a few things...
1. There is generally a 48-hour processing time before anything will get shipped... even if you expedite shipping.
2. If you get one of these slightly larger than OEM units, you'll probably have to shim the alternator to get it to mount correctly (not too much... just about 1/4" - 3/8").
AND...
3. Look over my "materials" list to get an idea of what else you'll need for this kind of upgrade that they don't spell out for you on the web site.
Otherwise, when I started up the truck and turned on AutoEnginuity... I was hitting 14.3-14.4 volts from the get-go, and I'm happy right now.
EDIT: On 12/12/2010, I updated the attached write-up with information regarding the grinding on the alternator bracket (including pics).
Also, the original link to the PDF doesn't seem to be working, so I have posted it further down in the thread... post # 7
I put a Qwikstart 140 amp with the internal HD rectifier on my 02 some time ago. I am happy with the alternator, i was not happy with the fact that you have to shim it to get proper belt tension and the fact that they don't tell you any of this at the time of purchase, I would really like to put OEM pulley on it to slow it down, i don't need full amp output at 1200 RPM. IMO

I'm not happy about some of those same issues myself, which I plainly included in the writeup so that a potential buyer would be aware of things they need to know before purchasing. Given my own situation where I frequently am sitting in a parking lot somewhere idling for anywhere from 20-45 minutes while working on my computer/phone/etc., I do need the higher amp charging ability at idle, so I am still quite pelased with the unit's performance (regardless of how poorly the seller informs his customers up front).
