Yes, all diffs. should have similar gears, you could have maybe 4.10 front and 4.11 rear, but that should be the biggest difference you should have in your truck. The front diff. should be a Dana TTB (Twin Traction Beam) 44, the internals should be the same as in a Dana 44.
Do some research on the TTB so you familiarize yourself with it, and do check that your Bronco's TTB hasn't been swapped (swapping for a Solid Axle is a mod some Bronco owners do).
4.11 will give you more pulling capability, and a better acceleration, it will barely affect MPG, if you have OD you'll be even better. About the reverse or standard... i actually don't know, that will probably be stated somewhere in the Owner's Manual, get the PDF for a 96 Bronco here, they will be almost the same: https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...ls/default.asp
The rear 8.8 is standard rotation. The front D44 TTB is reverse rotation. Your RPMs will increase by about 700 or so from where they are now while driving. So, if you're running 60mph now at 2,000rpm, you'll be turning around 2,700 after the swap.
I guess its a good thing i have overdrive then. Currently im getting 12mpg average with the crate motor, and 31in tires (305/65/18).
On a 3.55 gears. I dont pull a lot of weight. Have a 14ft fiberglass fishing boat but that aint nothing.
Want the 4.11's cuz it sounded like like the 2in body lift and 33in tires i plan to install, i would get optimal performance of of it. Especially while off road.
The 12mpg i get know would probably be around 11mpg with the 4.11 rear end.
Which ill deal with.
at 60mph i'm pushing 2100/2200 RPM. IN OVERDRIVE.
Really interested to see how the smoothly the lift goes. and how the tires an all look.
4.11s & 33s should work well together. Get a Superlift speedo calibrator & set your speedo to the gear ratio & tire diameter for best results. My '93 got 13 in town & 16 interstate, stock. 3.55s & 31s. You can put 33s on it w/o any lift. You'll just need to put spacers on the front bumper brackets to bring it out an inch or so. You can also put spacers under the coil springs & get up to 2". You'll just need to get the Camber reset at the alignment shop afterwards.
Thanks for the Tips, and the various info.

Gonna try the body lift, may be purchaseing the: 4 inch Deluxe Lift Kit 1990-96 Bronco/F150 and adding the Shocks plus drive shaft extension. Hopefully body lift will due tho.
I forgot to explain y i decided on 3.73 and not 4.11's.
The simply reason is im afraid 700RPM increase is alil to much for gas, etc.
I think 300-350RPM will be perfect.
Add some performance for off road, with the body lift an 33/12.50/18
super swamper's. But not sacrifice MPG on the 30mile commute to and from work.
When i get my gears/pinions/and lift just gonna take it to the mechanic and let him do it to it. Expect a $$250-300$$Bill for the install.
Then gna focus on the rear window and the 4x4 Module.
You'll probably be looking at $2,000 or so to install all that! If you go from 31s w/ 3.55s to 33s w/ 3.73s, you'll be in the same RPM range. No change. 4.11s w/ the 33s should give you the extra 300rpm or so.
The transfer case actuator is probably the culpret for no 4wd.
& Probably the switch in the dash for the rear window.
Go with the 4.11, the bigger tires will help you speed/wise, that 700 rpm estimate is that, an estimate. I have 3.73 stock diffs and i'm not happy with them, i run 2000 rpms at 75mph, so 4.11 shouldn't make that too much higher.
