My 97 won't start. No smoke, filter is full, new cam sensor. It didn't start about 130 miles from home. I put in my spare cam sensor and it fired right up and ran home perfect. The next nothing it would not start. It tried a couple of times with a puff of white smoke. Now nothing. Any ideas? PK
Check fuse #22 in the engine compartment. It's for the fuel heater and they tend to short out once the wire in the fuel bowl becomes rusty and hits the wall.
Are you getting a wait to start light?
Battery's good? These engines need to crank over pretty fast in order for it to fire.
Check the wiring on the ICP/IPR for the possibility of shorting out. Probably not a common reason, but its a possibility.

If it is a hot start only issue ,You may want to check the IPR o rings ,, its cheap test ..
I checked #22, good, new hot batteries. How do you check the CPS wires? Do you check pip to pin in the connector or continuity to a terminal somewhere else? Also, I get movement on the tack but it does not seem to be consistent.
The first failures to start it was hot, two hours on the road. The second no start it was cold. PK
