More Help, Still Won't Run

This has been posted but I don't know how to put it together. Truck started missing, took to shop and they put in #5 injector ($900). still missing then died and we pulled it home. No codes, posted here and advised it probably was a cam position sensor. Replaced (this was also done 65k miles ago) and still won't start and no codes. at one time it showed a code for wrong axle ratio, but there is nothing now. What do I check or where do I look? somone has to have had this experience. as always my thanks for the help.

You say no codes, but what type of code reader are you using? Alot of the cheap ones will not pull codes on a PSD. I can't imagine the engine not running and not setting a code of any kind. Since it just died, I would at least start by checking the fuse to the PCM to make sure it is OK. Does the dash light up when the key is on? Are there other symptoms other than it died and won't start?

What I would check next is the fuel pump, to make sure it is getting fuel to start. Underneath the driver's door on the inside the frame is the fuel pump, Have someone turn the key to the On position and listen to the fuel pump, it should run for a little bit. If the fuel pump is good, then I would check the fuel filter to make sure it isn't plugged. Good Luck, Nodak

I will have to find the fuse to the PCM. Fuel filter changed about 600 miles back but I have not checked it. I can hear the pump run. I have dash lights and the tach works. batteries are still very strong.

I see you have a 99. How many miles? Why did the shop replace the number 5 injector? If your fuses are OK, I would think you need to make sure you've got fuel, then check glow plugs and relay. Remember, your pump can be running but fuel may not be getting where it needs to go. Hopefully it's not due to the hpop. For giggles, check the oil level in your hpop. When was last oil change?

Edit: there are several points beyond the pump where fuel can be interupted. Filterbowl, lines and restrictor screens in the fitting at the heads to name a few. Do not attempt to check the screens unless you are ready to replace the orings to that fitting as they cannot be reused.

128K miles, They replaced #5 because at that time the machine said it was missing on 5, I don't know about the fuses, I am looking into that now, tank is full of fuel and with top off it comes out the filter nicely.last oil change was 3k and it is up to level and has NEVER used any.
What do you think of seeing if it will start on WD-40????????????

High Pressure Oil Pump. pressurizes oil un the neighborhood of 3000psi at WOT to fire the injectors.

it is located dead center, top of the engine at the front. the tall rectangular reservoir on the top, it is below the plastic Powerstroke cover.

THE SAGA CONTINUES, this morning I checked all the fuses and decided to try eather since nothing else had worked. Started right up, ran for 30 seconds, started missing and died. How do I check the discharge pressure on the fuel pump? can this still be low level in the high pressure oil pump? Sooner or later I'll stumble onto it but for now it sure is frustrating.
