I'm in the process of swapping over cruise components from an '85 F-150 w/ manual 4.9 to a '81 F-150 w/ auto 4.9. From most of my parts catalog, it looks as though everything thing is the same (part #'s and such) Does anyone know what parts are swappable? Any pics of this setup from either year would also be of help!
Hopefully someone will chime in....I pulled the harness and computer for the cruise today. Though I've hit a snag. Seeing as how I plan on swapping the column from the 85 everything should plug right in, except the plug for the switch on the clutch pedal. My 81 is an auto, so does anyone know if this can be left unplugged?
I am not 100% sure if the C/C will work w/ it unplugged, but you may just want to grab that piece from a donor F-Series from a salvage yard. I think you would really want your cruise to 'deactivate' when you hit the brake pedal (if I am understanding what you're saying). Is the switch on your clutch able to be relocated to your 81 brake pedal?
Relocating shouldn't be a problem for the clutch switch, or I hope not. The donor has both the dump valve, and brake light switch on the brake pedal. I'm just wondering if the auto trucks with CC had the plug for a clutch switch already in the harness. ( In other words, were the Auto and Manual CC harnesses the same?)
