1995 F150 4.9l jerking and sputtering

1995 Ford F-150 4.9l 2wd cleaned both tanks and changed fuel filter and it helped some. While driving it runs fine and it misses a little when getting down on it from idle but while cruising and going to pass someone it starts jerking and bucking unless I give it full throttle and it downshifts then it runs fine. Idk what is going on

Test your tps with an ohmmeter see if there's any dead spots in it

When was the last time it had a good ignition tune up? Spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor?

test fuel pressure too. just about drove us crazy on our 1994 4.9. The fuel pump was intermittently working as it had burned out put still functioned some.

It was the computer

I bought a 1995 E150 van with 4.9 engine with these problems....basically my problem was this: the computer ($125.) needed to be replaced. The parts inside that control the idle or whatever get corroded and break and it screws up the way the engine runs. This may be because it is mounted right on the skin of the front, driver's side quarter panel. Might have to do with changes in temp, condensation or vibration. The computer is also hidden behind something and not easy to find.

Anyway, once it was replaced the engine has run great.

Good luck.
