How much?
1988 Bronco II XL - 2 WD "Body is all there"
141 K
No battery
2.9 engine. Says it ran OK before sitting but haven't tried to start it.
5 speed tranny... OK I think but can't drive it.
Body reasonable. No major damage. (except paint)
Stock wheels and tires. Rubber under 50%.
OK, it looks awful but you know...
Paint is mostly sanded off, hood & roof to metal. Very rusty but salvageable.Interior complete but very worn. Seams all torn out on seats. etc.
***Rear window shot out by pellet gun.***
Rest of glass OK.
The Story
The lady says her son drove it until the clutch went out and it's been sitting in her driveway ever since. (All this year I guess) She's selling her house and it needs to go. (there's two more dead cars and a trailer there too. Don't want them though.)
That's about it in a nut shell. So what do you think I should offer for it? Is $200 bucks fair or too much?
Appreciate your opinions
$2000 to Put in in Great Condition.
Ur gonna have to put money in this truck. So consider that. But for $200, it definitely worth truly considering. In my opinion
Not havin' any 4 wheel kinda takes the fun out of it.
And yeah, I'd probably have to put at least a couple of grand into it to make it nice. But in the end, if I sold it (what with no 4 wheel and all) I'd be lucky if I broke even on it. Doesn't sound too good.
Well, I'll think on it. It's not going anywhere.
Thanks!
If i didn't use my bronco for hunting/recreation on muddy and clay roads, 4x4 would be of no added desire for me.
Id be prepared to pay 1500-2000 for that bronco II 2wd in fair/good condition.
If i was you id focus on
1)Buying a battery ($75/$90)
2)Sand out the rust with 400 grit sand paper. Then id primer it. And leave it just primed. Personally love the look of primer. ($300-$500).
3) Fix up interior to make it better, maybe seat covers($100), and extra stuff($100)
If it runs it runs. You know what i mean. Im not a huge fan of the 2.9 ford engine. My personal favorite ford engine is the 289 v8. Unfortually they no longer make it. =(
Anyways, if you can get the bronco for 200 and feel comfortable with fixing it in fair condition for 1000, i think you can do i little better than breaking even, maybe making $500.
But you will have a working truck for 1200 buks that in itself aint bad.

Yeah. I'm kinda that way about 4X4's myself. I don't have a use for one so why bother. That's a good idea you have one priming it up though. But maybe flat black. Give it the tough guy look. (That and it would cover up any dings. Not that that's important.
) But any hoo, it might work. New clutch, prime it and a window. Have it ready by next spring. I could make a little money. Or who knows, maybe I'd keep it. I do kinda like 'em. And it would be fun too. Definitely worth considering. Thanks!
