Traded the 6.0L in tonight for a 2011 F250 6.7L Lariat. No more oil cooler issues, no more EGR issues, no more EOT/ECT issues, no more ball joint replacements, no more fuel injector replacements.
Wonder what the 6.7L has in store for me...
Moving forums.... Been a pleasure guys... thanks for all the infomation.....
I hope that you enjoy it! That 2011 is one heck of a truck and I'd love to make the switch if I could afford it......maybe a few years down the road? Good luck and I hope it works out great for you.

Did they go to a different supplier for the ball joints?

I remember reading somewhere that Ford's 4x4 parts supplier went bankrupt at the start of 2011 production, so maybe they did switch. but anyways enjoy the truck, i've test drove one, and man they have *****.
I know the feeling. I did the same thing 7 weeks ago. I just returned from Oshkosh Airventure. Almost 2000 miles with all smiles. It felt so good to go on a trip and just enjoy the truck.

That's a bold statement considering the limited amount of time the 6.7L has been out. But I wish you the best of luck and congratulations. I may go the same direction if things work out with the new engine.

I think the EPA actually messed that up too. I heard somewhere that the EPA made the car companys do away with the grease fittings because idiots at Quick lube places would over fill the fittings and it got grease on the highway. I don't know if this is true or not but it sounds very pausible.
Yes, the engine is new and the exact future is unknown. If the 10 million miles of testing is any indication of how the new engine will fare, Ford will have a real winner. Early reports from the techs are all positive. IIRC, Ford has been working on this engine since 2005 or 2006. This engine was not rushed to market like the 6.0. or to a lesser extent the 6.4. Few will argue that Ford going in-house with this engine was not a good idea.

Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of the 6.0L (big surprise huh?) - probably because I have not had the common problems (except for a FICM under warranty - which I was well prepared for due to FTE). I am pretty well equipped to deal w/ any of the other issues - except head bolts.
That being said - I am a little jealous of you 6.7L guys. It looks like a very sweet truck! I wish you all well.
BTW - the ball joint discussion just reminded me that I have some links to post in a new thread .................
I still like the 6.0 with the proper equipment. I still battle the other brand dummies on the rv board to try and keep the record straight and the facts I know up front. I will continue to participate here because you guys are my friends. But I really like my new truck. It is the first new one in ten years.
Don't get me wrong, I don't wish anything bad on Ford's new engine or the owners of said new engine. But at this point we're just outta the gate. In a few years when I go shopping for a "new to me" truck I would love to say "Well that's an early production 2011...it's just as good as a 2013". Now that would be truely awesome.

This is what I want to see in the Ford diesel. If the reliability along with performance of this truck is as good now as it is 2, 4, 10 years later, then Duramax and Dodge Cummins have some issues to work out, leaving Ford on top as a workhorse standard, as it has been since forever ago in my opinion.
