With these stock size 235x85R16's I'm doing around 2200. Guess the truck is a 4.10. I'll keep the tires for a while, but how big could I go without lifting the truck?
ive heard you can go 315/75r16's but thats cutting it close. i like the look of 265/75r16's. thats what im running till sunday. got my lift and tires ready. heres with 265/75r16s
Interesting followup...The truck leaked out tranny fluid pretty bad a week after buying the truck. I had bought an aftermarket warranty on my own that I heard was reputable. It leaked at the torque converter and the torque converter was damaged. My friend a diesel mechanic at the local Ford, told me the trans was fine and was replaced recently. The warranty company insisted on buying a new trans direct from Ford with the torque converter with a 3year unlimited mileage warranty! I paid less than 100 bucks out of pocket. Is this trans any different from the one I had in there? I decided I didn't have the money for an ATS and the truck is stock down to the size 235 tires anyways.
Anyway my friend told me about buying my last tranny for the core charge. Should I do this and keep it as a spare?
Ford updated the e40d close to seven times thru out the years. If your "old"one was done with in the past 3 years your new one is the same thing as the old one. i wouldnt buy your old core back. not unless you are going to rebuild it or plan on sending it to BTS to have one BUILT for the truck. Other than that you will just be tripping over the core, which is close to an 800 charge
Found a 1997 F350 Crew cab, auto, 4wd XLT for sale with 130k on it. Interior looks perfect exterior has small scratches here and there but no rust or anything like that. This is the cleanest '97 I've even seen.
I drove it...no hesitation or slipping. (BTW I have a F250 1995 PSD supercab) so I have an idea of how these run. Looking to go bigger as I have a F250 with a 9.5ft Eagle Cab camper and run an extended hitch pulling a flatbed with my Jeep on it. Even with airbags its pretty overloaded. I would be swapping my superhitch and camper tie downs to the new truck. 4 full doors and seats woulkd be a plus as I would be taking my girl and two kids around with me.
Gonna have my friend (a Ford Diesel tech) take a look at it tomorrow. The carfax on it is clean. Not like that matters too much.
Anyway they want $13,900 for this truck. Must have a gold plated engine in it. I told them they'd never get that unless it was a 1999-03 Lariat with that miledge.
They said they are willing to deal. All the appraisals I could run show perfect condition values for this truck at 9700 through 11,200. For a perfect truck.
Anyone have an idea what my 1995 PSD extended cab 4wd might be worth with 236000 miles? Its red and silver with some small dents but looks good inside and out for the most part and runs just fine. The dealer is interested in my trade but I may sell outright as I want to swap stuff to the '97.
well i have a immaculate 1997 supercab long bed that was only driven 3 years and purchased new in 1999 it has 127xxx and when i bought it i got it for 9000 after workin the deal it had 104xxx, a few months later after some shocks brakes and fluids i attempted to resell it out of impulse, i was fishing so i said 15 thousand obo on craigslist, that same day i had 2 people cash in hand wanting to buy it. There is a cult obsession with old body style powerstrokes especially if they haven't been worked it's not uncommon to see a 94.5-97 selling for 3 thousand dollars over book value, it has more street value than book value, personally if i were you i would get it they don't make the super duty trucks anything like the old body style the super duty truck is more plasticy and it's not as good lookin in my opinion. I never sold the truck i still have it, i guess i'm one of the people with an obsession...
