What size socket does the fan clutch nut take. My gauge says 47 mm. Is that right? I have read 1 & 7/8 but that measures a little loose.
Thanks
Do you mean wrench? I went out and measured the tool I bought for removing my fan from the motor and it measures 48 mm, but when I used it to remove the fan a few weeks ago when I did the oil cooler rebuild, I would have rather had a 47 as the tool felt a little loose but did the job.
The tool is 1 and 7/8ths inch open-ended wrench - there is no place for a socket in there as the fan clutch is on the end of the nut.
Useful tip - I found that Advance Autoparts have the fan clutch toolkit in their loaner tools section, cost me nothing to borrow, just put down a returnable deposit.
I just used it to re-install my fan stator (taken off during overhaul at my request) - big noise reduction in having it back on the truck.
