Okay guys, i cant figure for the life of me how to get my damn reverse lights workin the stock way and ive tried it all, so it's toggle switch time. I will be the first to admit im not the most electrically sound guy, but i am capable with a shove in the right direction. The shove i need this time is a brief description of the wiring for such a toggle switch or perhaps a diagram. I plan to run through the existing fuse, since it currently is not getting power. I also plan to use the existing lights for now, i will probably upgrade later. Any help you can give would go a looooong way in alleviating my frustrations. thanks. 1986 F150 XLT.
Im not getting any power to the fuse in the first place, so ive gotta run wire from the fuse to the battery first. Should i run off the starter relay, or right off the battery? Im thinking it would be hot from battery to fuse, then to switch, back to bulbs, then ground out of bulbs and directly to frame. Am i missing anything?
If you are going to do this, why not just get two fuse taps, put one tap under the key in run hot fuse like for the blower motor, and the other fuse tap under the dead back-up fuse. Then make a small jumper and hook the two fuse taps together. Then the back-up fuse will be powered and the back-up lights will work then correct?
