im looking at putting hedman 89218 headers that are jet-hot coated on my 1979 f150 4wd with a 400. does anyone know the dimensions of these headers or have pics so i know what kind of issues i will have with the crossmember and how far down the headers will hang? any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

 

I put a set on my '74 F-100,2WD. with no issues what so ever.I purchased mine from Summit.
I got the black ones along with the Flowmasters and wished I had went with the coated Heddmans.
Just did'nt have the cash at the time.
Maybe you can call Heddman and see what they say about your set up.

 

when i called them before, all they had mentioned was that you couldn't install them with a dana60 front axle. i have a dana40 so that's not a problem. i have heard before of the cross member issues, however, and i have also heard of not being able to use these headers with the dual shock setup which i have. i was just looking for input from people that have used them. thanks again

I have the 89120s and they exited dead center on the crossmember. I used a 2.5-inch Jegs Hot Rod exhaust kit and snaked both tubes up and over the crossmember and parallel to the right frame rail.

Oy. Read note 166 for application.

 

so has anybody with the factory dual shock setup in the front ran these?
