Front Axle type

Hi all I'm trying to figure out what front axle I have as I am ordering suspension parts i.e ball joints tie rods etc. I went to the local parts store where im ordering the Moog products and they could not help me. I have a 1997 Ford F250 HD 4x4 with a 351W 5.8L it is a 3/4 ton. Anyone who could point me in the direction woud be great.

Should be a Dana 50TTB, post up the axle codes on the drivers door pillar.

Well here's what i found if someone can confirm my results. I have a 3.31 Non-LS 4600# twin traction beam front axle. So is that correct according to my door tag and does that mean it is in fact a Dana 50 TTB?

look at the front locking hub. if it is the same size as the mounting flange, you have a dana 50
if the locking hub is a little smaller than the mounting flange, you have a dana 44.

It could still be either, I belive. Something else to check is the bottom of the diff housing. Some (not all) 50s have a "50" molded in the bottom of the case. Not sure if any 44s have this.

I think you have a Dana 44. But check under the front diff, there will be a 44 or a 50 cast into the bottom.

But regardless, looking at the hub itself is the easiest way.

Here are a couple pics (Tom you are slipping!):

Ok so I got the ball joints and tie rods without issue (atleast I think so) when I ordered the inner and outer wheel bearings theres a 4600 lb axle choice or a spicer 50 or 60 option I got the spicer 50 assuming its the same as Dana 50?

No... C9 is 3.55 LS with 6250lb capacity.. which would be the rear axle, the front will also be 3.55(3.54 actually) of course but could be a D44HD or D50.. though I'm leaning towards a D44HD with that relatively low 3550lb rating.
Here's the axle code chart..

Well turns out I didnt even need ball joints but we replaced both drivers side as well as wheel bearings and seal. The u-joint was ready for failure and this turned out to be a nightmare. I guess the PO had cracked the inner axle shaft which became evident when doing the u-joint. We were able to get it together including the new tie rods however I do not like the cracked axle shaft nor do I like the fact that one clip in the u-joint didn't sit all the way.

So my question is does anyone know where I can find both the axle shafts for the driver side as im going to have a reputable shop redo the u-joint and I will never pay a "friend" to do work again.

A junkyard is going to be the best place to pick up those parts. Buying them new is going to be expensive.
