Anybody do dirt drags?
I have a track local to me that has a run every month. 300ft 2 lane dirt track, double elmination.
It wont be anytime soon but I a am wanting to build a dirt drag race truck. I already have some parts put I want to find another shortwheel base truck to use.
The class I would be running is "Pure Stock" class. Headers allowed, any street legal tire, no paddles or bar tires. Can have traction bars and locked diff.
I figure I would run some type of mud tire in the 31x10.50 size. I thought about running 33x12.50 but would they fit?
I have the engine, trans, and rearend I am going to use. Beefed up 302. Rearend is currently 3.25 gears. I figure 3.50 for 31x10.50 and 4.10 for 33x12.50.
Im asking things way ahead of time. May be till next year before I have the time and money to actually get the truck that I am going to use for this. Thanks.
Its usually always just worked up dirt. But about twice a year they turn the track into a mud pit.
They have stock class, pure stock, super stock, and pro modified.
I always seem to have more fun around two wheel drives so I decided to go that route.
I don't plan to spend alot of money on this project. I just want to have fun. I bought a parts truck awhile back with a good engine, trans, rear end and some other things. I already have a set of wheels I could use.
Im not in a big hurry to do this but I am goin to do it. I have to find a shortwheel base truck first, I don't want to build a long wheel base. Selling more parts off the parts truck should help fund the project some.
Maybe I will have something to run by next year, I don't know yet, ill just have to wait and see.
