Need Engine Help - Need some knowledge!
Hi all. I am looking to swap my 460 BB for something smaller. I have a 1974 F350 Super Camper Special. The transmission is a C6. My question is: What engines are compatible with the C6 tranny and this truck? Would the Carbureted Straight Six's that ford made into the 80's bolt into this truck? If anyone could give me some suggestions of smaller engines that will bolt up I will really appreciate it.

Also forgot to mention that my truck above is for sale as well. If I can't find an engine to do a swap I want to sell it and just buy a little bit smaller truck. Willing to trade for a late 80's or early 90's F150 as well. asking $1500 firm.

the only other engines that will bolt to your existing tranny are the 351m,400 and the 429. If you want to put a 6 in it you will need a new tranny that has the 300 i6,289,302,351w/c bolt pattern.You will also need new frame pearches for the engine mounts and probbaly a smaller radiator.Also you will need the gas pedle from a 6 cyl truck as they were a cable set up as oposed to the solid rod you have now.

Engine mounts for any other motor are going to be trouble to find for a 2wd. The 351m/400 429/460 bell housing bolt pattern will be trouble as well. Although you would get some good money for your 460 2wd mounts on ebay. The simple swap would be a 351/400 their mounts are a dime a dozen, but you would be disappointed with that, you wouldn't even get any better mileage out of one.
