this is something small that is bugging me. anybody ever see a place to get the shouldered rivet that the vent glass frame pivots on at the top? looked high and low and tired of not being able to open it.
Do you mean the rivet on the outside of the wing window. I would take a stainless screw, file the head flat. Put in on with a nut on the bottom, have just enough extra threads showing to peen over so it can not be removed easily.
i have it bolted now like you said. the rivet has a shoulder in it for the two different size holes. looks like the larger hole allowes it to pivot while the shoulder seats up to the smaller hole. with the screw it has play, with a pop rivet it would be too tight ans still have play. was just trying to put it back like it is supposed to be. will keep searching for a proper rivet, thanks though.
i appreciate the offer, but i am almost ashamed to tell where i found the correct rivet at. gm part # 14011684. i saw a 85 chev truck yesterday and noticed the vent window on it looked the same. went to the chev store and bought a rivet for $2.50 and took it home last night and put it in. perfect fit. don't tell any of my buddies though.
