390fe fuel injection

Anyone have any ideas about an efi for an fe motor? All that ive seen are race applications and im aiming more for mpg while still keeping the power.

Figure your current mpg. If you improved it 20%, where would you be? And how long would it take to recover the money for EFI?

A good running carb, decent compression, headers, will get you the best mpg from an FE at the least cost.

Yeah the cheapest one I found was $3800. I could probly do t.b.i but wont be any improvement over stock. I think your right, ill just figure out the proper size carb for a 390, im thinkin 750+ cfm, it already had a mild cam and headers now.

500 or 600 would be better for mpg....

Plenty big for easy, light-footed street use.

if I go to small you actually use more fuel, theres a fine line to walk on lol. I think im going to get a 650 holley and have it tuned, theres also bodies you can buy with interchangeable venturies but thats a different story lol.

I too have been through this before and totally agree with 85 E 150, a 500 to 600 CFM would be a much better choice, you certainly will not be getting better fuel mileage with the 750. Us the CFM calculator link.

Hmm have you tried looking at one of these? I like the projection 1 personally.

Several places sell them and Gen 1 will connect to everything including the intake and throttle linkages. The price tag is still $2000 but it is a sleeper system.

I like the powerjection unit, kinda what I was looking for better millage is good but its mostly so I dont stahl or lean out while on steep terrain.

You can also use the holley 4x4 carbs that have offroad provisions incorpated into them so you can run them in funky positions. I know they have a bowl vent tube that runs between the bowls and vent whistles so you can go over 37* and not dump fuel.
